“7 Dayz On 7 Mile”
Authors: Keith Robinson and James McKinney
The lives and fortunes of three young men from drastically different environments
become forever intertwined in the dramatic book “7 Dayz On 7 Mile”.
Life in Traverse City, Michigan is good for handsome biracial brothers Marcus and
Michael “G-Baby” Dickerson. The young men have grown up and excelled in academics,
athletics and professional life thanks to their upbringing by their beloved White
grandmother, who took the boys in following their mother’s death in a car accident.
The boys were raised to believe that their African-American father was somehow responsible
for the accident and had subsequently abandoned his sons.
When tragedy befalls younger brother G-Baby in the form of life-threatening leukemia,
an immediate bone marrow
transplant is his only hope of survival. As both older
brother Marcus and his grandmother have tested negative as possible donors, only
one prospect remains. Within one week, Marcus must locate the boys’ long-lost father
--- with the only information about Dad’s whereabouts being that he works on a street
called 7 Mile in Detroit.

Soon after arriving in Detroit to begin his desperate search, Marcus begins to cross
paths with a young man named Terrell Johnson, a.k.a. “T. J.” in which he has his
own time-pressing dilemma. Ambitious and determined to start his own business after
being fired from his auto factory job, T.J. approaches a local street hustler for
a $25,000 down payment on a commercial building. Under the guise of friendship,
the shark loans T.J. the money with the stipulation that it be paid back with interest
… with 7 days.
Through several
coincidental situations, Marcus and T.J. become acquainted. Neither is aware of
the impact they’ll eventually have on each other’s lives … or what a difference
a week can make.
